This is my most recent creation. Impetus for design and construction was found in the need for a functional, yet attractive storage piece as well as place to put my television. When I finished this project I realized it would be a sin to place a TV on something of this quality, I hope you see why ! This piece is constructed of solid cherry and Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry). The top is 1" thick and is solid cherry. All panels are solid Jatoba as well as are the drawer faces. The drawer bottoms are also solid 1/4" Jatoba with cherry boxes. The drawers themselves have a locking mechanism and the slides are solid cherry. All hardware has an antique brass finish with a minor decorative touch. All of the cherry on this piece is heartwood for uniform color and expected patina. All of the details on this piece are of an ogee nature (panels, stiles and rails, top trim, base, top). The finish on this piece is the finish I personally choose for every piece for myself. It has a total of eight coats (not including initial oil application) of finish which is hand rubbed and buffed in-between with #000 steel wool. This finish is very thin and is barely detectable past the luster (oiled look). I cannot give up my secrets here but the reason I choose this finish is the fact that it gives the piece an oiled look with the durability of an actual varnish. This piece is actually for sale and I will accept $4400. This should also give you an idea of what you can expect from pieces of similar quality. This piece is truly beautiful !
The bottom of the interior is a lumber core cherry to prevent problems associated with expansion !
Solid Jatoba bottoms with cherry boxes. Full mortice locking mechanism.
Solid Jatoba panels on the back with cherry stiles and rails. This unit could easily be a free standing unit for displaying other works of art.
Solid side panels of Jatoba with cherry stiles and rails.
This piece also has adjustable stainless steel feet for placement on hardwoods floors. This piece is virtually flawless, guaranteed !
