These are a few designs of Hope Chests. The first is actually a refinished antique that has been in my family for some time. The outside is a walnut while the inside is cedar. The finish is a simply a thinned linseed oil with three coats of Varathane. Although we do not do refinishing work at Angelheart Woodworking, we will happily point you in the right direction in regards to businesses that will provides you superb quality at a reasonable price.

The pictures below depict a cedar chest that I built many years ago. I was working on a remodel in Russian Hill in San Francisco. The main bathroom originally had all cedar cabinets and on the main demolition phase, all of the cedar ended up in the refuse container. I salvaged some of the lumber core cedar plywood that was in this container and created this piece. Although neither of these pieces are for sale, they could provide simply design representations for you to start with. A recreation of the cedar chest below would cost approximately $850. I am currently working on another design which will provide more detail such as decorative legs and decorative antique brass hardware.
